Meet the Designer

I’m Colombia Everett, a 26-year-old Australian British designer and founder of Studio Agaea. The concept for the brand first emerged while I was living in Barcelona in 2023, and Studio Agaea was officially founded in London in February 2024.

Growing up in Australia, I was fascinated by the quiet intricacies of the natural world—the bark of a gum tree, the sculptural form of a termite mound, the ripple of a pebble falling into still water. These moments of observation shaped how I see and interpret the world. Nature, with its balance of fragility and resilience, has always informed my work. Even in the most seemingly untouched landscapes, traces of human intervention are impossible to ignore. On the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal, the mountains are intersected with roads, huts, and small towns, a reminder that nothing exists in isolation. My work reflects this tension: soft, organic forms crafted through precise, modern techniques, bridging the natural and the industrial.

Studio Agaea exists at the intersection of craft and digital design. Each piece carries the mark of its making, revealing the journey from initial concept to final creation. I design and make every piece myself in London, from sketching and casting to finishing. I am invested in the materiality of each object and in the narrative embedded in its creation. In a world where we rarely see the making of what we wear, I want my work to be transparent. Jewellery, to me, is a medium through which to tell stories, to explore memory, touch, and time.

Jewellery occupies a singular space in design. It is intimate yet public, playful yet enduring, personal yet universal. It can be a statement, an heirloom, or a quiet presence that is never forgotten. I am drawn to the ways jewellery evolves with the wearer: how a ring molds to a finger, how a necklace collects the subtle marks of daily life. Each piece holds the potential to carry these stories forward, becoming inseparable from the person who wears it.

When I first studied silversmithing, I wasn’t wearing jewellery myself. Now, I embrace a more maximalist approach: layering necklaces, stacking bracelets, and wearing rings on every finger. I enjoy the freedom to play and combine, to move between everyday essentials and pieces reserved for special moments. At the heart of my practice is an observation of how objects live with us over time. Nothing inspires me more than seeing my work worn, witnessing how it is incorporated into people’s lives, and understanding the dialogue between maker and wearer.

Studio Agaea is a reflection of these ideas; of observation, craft, and intimacy. It is where materials, technique, and narrative converge, and where each piece is designed to endure, to be experienced, and to become part of the wearer’s story.
